Happiness and Realization

I noticed something today.You know when you laugh at a joke .A part of you also enjoys the joke because it acknowledges that you have understood it.It is a universal phenomenon.It applies to a lot of other things.For instance you start enjoying that crappy subject even more when you start understanding it more and more.Same goes for music.Once the lyrics and tune start making sense to you  it is more enjoyable to listen to that song.You discover new layers of meaning to it every time you listen.

I would like to elaborate more on laughter here as i have a separate blog for music now.

Man is the only animal capable of laughter.This makes us realize how high up we are on the evolution peak.And what is the cause of laughter.Well we are probably the only species capable of getting bored.Ever noticed trees,plants or animals getting bored.Nah..you wouldnt.Cause they never get bored.
And why do we get bored...Its pretty simple(no rocket science here), the higher the intelligence the more capable it is of understanding things around us.This knowing it all leads to boredom.

So the thing is-the more you can think, the more you will be bored; because through thinking you can compare time as past, future and present.Through thinking you can ask for the meaning of it all.
And the moment a person asks: ”What is the meaning of it?” boredom enters, because there is no meaning in anything, really.Thats what Osho said.


So this boredom causes stress which gets released when a joke is told.The mechanism behind this is straightforward.The joke is usually something which contains an illogical or absurd ending.Something which as soon as strikes to our brain releases the expectancy associated with the joke.

I read somewhere that laughter can be classified as three types-
The first is when you laugh at someone else's expense.This is the most common of jokes.And usually involves taking jabs at certain religions or sects or groups.Example blonde jokes or sardarji jokes.It is therefore the lowest form of laughter.

The second is when you laugh at the your own self.This is something worth culturing.Making fun at others is pretty easy but laughing at oneself, unless you are a clown requires setting your ego aside.

The last form is when you laugh not yourself or others  but the whole situation itself.It is the laughter or rather the glee that comes from realization of a situation as a whole.The bigger realisation the bigger the happiness and this sort of happiness is the cosmic laughter.The one which unites us with cosmos.
