The Quran and The Pastor

This year on 9/11 the pastor of a small church in backwoods of Florida planned to burn the holy script of the Muslims-the Quran. No wonder he managed to garner enough attention and publicity.Terry Jones-a name which would have probably sunk amongst countless other pastors, one who probably would have never even have presided over a group of 50-60 people on even a Sunday mass, someone who should be preaching peace and unity but instead chose to have his insane way of getting those 15 seconds of fame.

This religious intolerance is what divides and creates barriers amongst people.People who have nothing better to do just wake up one fine day and decide they want to burn some holy religious script. This is nothing but an attempt at cheap publicity and which soon came to an end for Terry when he was handed a bill of $200K for the security threats he caused. Not that i care too much for the book. But being tolerant to others beliefs and respecting thoughts of others is what makes us human.Else we are all nothing but savages waiting to dominate and control everything around us.It is this which makes us "civilized" in the true sense.

I don't exactly believe in god and am not exactly certain there is someone that divine.Yet when it comes to respecting other religions i do that.Nowadays being a "atheist " or an "agnostic" is a fad amongst the new Gen.
Some blindly, some truly understand the implication that a major part of terrorism stems from religious fanaticism. But if an atheist starts mocking a theist it still creates a divide. So the key here is not which side you are on or what you believe in but respecting the beliefs of other fellow humans.Extending this to every other thing including religious beliefs is what true peace stands for.Peace with oneself and peace with the outer world.

I would like to end with a quote for Terry Jones which he probably has forgotten to read from the Colossians 3:15-"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
